Refund Policy

Last Updated: 18 August 2026

1. Introduction

This Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policy applies to purchases and services provided through Bakkie Guys (Registration No. 2026/654808/07), including:

  • Physical products sold directly through Bakkie Guys;

  • Products supplied or fulfilled on behalf of Bakkie Guys by participating suppliers;

  • Advertising and marketplace listing services; and

  • Subscription-based services.

Bakkie Guys is an independently registered South African business.

Payments made directly through the Bakkie Guys website are securely processed using PayFast.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit any rights available to consumers under applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) and Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”), where applicable.

2. Physical Products Sold Through Bakkie Guys

Certain products are available for purchase directly through the Bakkie Guys website.

These products may be:

  • Stocked directly by Bakkie Guys;

  • Supplied to Bakkie Guys by participating suppliers;

  • Shipped directly from a supplier to the customer on behalf of Bakkie Guys; or

  • Made available for collection from an approved supplier or location.

Where Bakkie Guys is identified as the seller, this Refund and Returns Policy applies regardless of whether the product is physically dispatched by Bakkie Guys or by a supplier fulfilling the order on our behalf.

3. Change-of-Mind Returns

Where applicable under South African law, customers may have a statutory right to cancel certain online transactions within the prescribed cooling-off period.

Where no statutory cooling-off right applies, Bakkie Guys may nevertheless consider a change-of-mind return provided that:

  • The request is made within a reasonable period after delivery;

  • The product has not been installed, fitted, used or damaged;

  • The product is returned in its original condition;

  • All original packaging, accessories, components and documentation are included; and

  • The product is suitable for resale.

Any voluntary change-of-mind return outside a statutory right is subject to approval by Bakkie Guys.

Where legally permitted, the customer may be responsible for reasonable return delivery or courier costs associated with a change-of-mind return.

4. Incorrectly Ordered Products and Vehicle Compatibility

Many products sold through Bakkie Guys are designed for specific bakkie makes, models, generations, cab configurations or model years.

Customers are responsible for checking product compatibility before placing an order and for providing accurate vehicle information.

Where a customer orders an incorrect product despite the product being accurately described, a return may be accepted at the discretion of Bakkie Guys provided that the product:

  • Has not been fitted or installed;

  • Has not been used;

  • Is undamaged;

  • Remains in a resalable condition; and

  • Is returned with its original packaging and components.

Return courier charges may be for the customer’s account where permitted by law.

This section does not affect the customer’s rights where Bakkie Guys or a participating supplier supplied an incorrect product or provided materially incorrect compatibility information.

5. Defective, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If you receive a product that is:

  • Defective;

  • Damaged;

  • Incorrectly supplied;

  • Materially different from the product ordered; or

  • Missing essential components,

please contact Bakkie Guys as soon as reasonably possible.

We may request:

  • Your order number;

  • Photographs or video of the product;

  • Photographs of the packaging;

  • A description of the problem; and

  • Vehicle details where compatibility is relevant.

Where a product is defective or otherwise does not meet applicable legal standards, Bakkie Guys will handle the matter in accordance with the CPA and other applicable South African consumer legislation.

Depending on the circumstances and the customer’s applicable statutory rights, the appropriate remedy may include repair, replacement or refund.

6. Installed or Fitted Products

Customers should inspect products before installation wherever reasonably possible.

Products that have been installed, fitted, modified, drilled, cut, painted or otherwise altered may not ordinarily be accepted as a voluntary change-of-mind return.

However, this does not remove any statutory rights relating to defective or unsafe products.

Where a product is alleged to be defective after installation, we may request reasonable information to determine whether the problem relates to:

  • A manufacturing defect;

  • Product failure;

  • Incorrect fitment;

  • Installation damage;

  • Modification of the product; or

  • Incorrect product selection.

Where appropriate, the product may need to be inspected by the manufacturer, supplier or another suitably qualified party.

7. Special-Order and Custom Products

Certain products may be manufactured, ordered, imported, cut, modified or otherwise sourced specifically for a customer’s vehicle or requirements.

Where permitted by law, custom-made or special-order products may not be eligible for cancellation or change-of-mind returns once production, modification or procurement has commenced.

This may include certain:

  • Custom canopies;

  • Vehicle-specific accessories;

  • Specially manufactured components;

  • Customised products;

  • Specially imported products; and

  • Products manufactured or modified according to customer specifications.

Any applicable restrictions will be communicated where reasonably practicable before the order is finalised.

Nothing in this section excludes statutory rights relating to defective, unsafe or incorrectly supplied goods.

8. Manufacturer Warranties

Certain products may include a manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty.

Where applicable, warranty terms may differ depending on the product and manufacturer.

Bakkie Guys may assist customers in communicating warranty claims to the relevant supplier or manufacturer where appropriate.

A manufacturer’s warranty operates in addition to, and does not replace, statutory rights available under South African consumer law.

9. Third-Party Marketplace Purchases

Some products and services displayed on Bakkie Guys are advertisements or marketplace listings offered by independent sellers.

Where a customer contacts an independent seller through Bakkie Guys and completes the purchase and payment directly with that seller, Bakkie Guys is not the seller of the product.

Returns, refunds, warranties and cancellations relating to such direct transactions must ordinarily be handled with the relevant seller.

The seller remains responsible for complying with applicable South African consumer protection legislation.

This differs from products purchased and paid for directly through the Bakkie Guys checkout, where Bakkie Guys is identified as the seller.

10. Advertising and Listing Services

Bakkie Guys provides digital advertising, promotional and marketplace listing services to businesses, dealers, suppliers, manufacturers and fitment centres.

Because these services are digital and may begin shortly after activation, listing and advertising fees are generally non-refundable once the purchased advertising service has commenced, except where:

  • Required by applicable law;

  • A duplicate payment occurred;

  • A billing error occurred;

  • The purchased service could not be activated due to a technical problem attributable to Bakkie Guys and could not reasonably be resolved; or

  • Bakkie Guys agrees otherwise in writing.

11. Subscription Payments

Where a seller purchases a recurring Bakkie Guys subscription, fees will be charged according to the billing cycle disclosed at checkout or when the subscription is created.

Subscriptions remain active until cancelled in accordance with the applicable subscription terms.

Any automatic renewal arrangements will be administered subject to applicable South African law.

Where a subscription renews, the applicable subscription fee may be charged using the payment method associated with the account.

12. Subscription Cancellations

Subscription cancellation requests may be submitted through available account facilities or by contacting Bakkie Guys.

Subject to applicable law and the particular subscription terms:

  • Cancellation prevents future renewals after the effective cancellation date;

  • Existing advertising may remain active until the end of the paid period; and

  • Partial refunds are not ordinarily provided for unused portions of an already commenced billing period unless required by law.

Cancellation of a subscription does not automatically cancel outstanding amounts or other obligations already incurred.

13. No Guarantee of Advertising Results

Advertising and listing fees are paid for access to the applicable advertising, promotional or marketplace service.

Bakkie Guys does not guarantee:

  • Sales;

  • Customer enquiries;

  • Website traffic;

  • Search engine rankings;

  • Leads;

  • Revenue;

  • Conversion rates; or

  • Business growth.

Results may vary based on numerous factors including pricing, demand, product selection, location, competition, listing quality and seller responsiveness.

A lack of enquiries, leads or sales does not by itself entitle an advertiser to a refund.

14. Refund Requests

To request a refund or return, customers should contact Bakkie Guys and provide:

  • Full name;

  • Order number or transaction reference;

  • Product or service concerned;

  • Reason for requesting the return or refund; and

  • Supporting photographs or other information where relevant.

We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to assess the request.

Refund requests will be assessed in accordance with this Policy and applicable South African law.

15. Returning Products

Where a physical product must be returned, Bakkie Guys will provide or confirm the appropriate return instructions.

Customers should not send products to a supplier, manufacturer or other address without first confirming the return arrangements with Bakkie Guys.

Depending on the reason for the return and applicable law, return courier costs may be paid by:

  • Bakkie Guys;

  • The supplier; or

  • The customer.

The responsible party will depend on the circumstances of the return.

16. Refund Processing

Approved refunds for payments made through the Bakkie Guys website will generally be processed through the appropriate payment channel.

Where the original payment was processed using PayFast, the refund may be processed through PayFast where supported and appropriate.

Refunds will ordinarily be made to the original payment method where reasonably possible.

The time required for refunded funds to reflect may vary depending on the customer’s bank, card issuer and payment method.

Bakkie Guys cannot control processing delays caused by banks or payment service providers after an approved refund has been submitted.

17. PayFast Payments

Bakkie Guys uses PayFast to facilitate secure online payments.

PayFast is an independent payment service provider and may process payment information according to its own terms, privacy practices and security requirements.

Bakkie Guys does not intentionally store customers’ complete card details on its own website systems.

Payment disputes relating to an order should first be reported to Bakkie Guys so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.

18. Chargebacks

If you believe that a payment was:

  • Incorrect;

  • Duplicated;

  • Unauthorised;

  • Not associated with the product or service received; or

  • Otherwise disputed,

please contact Bakkie Guys as soon as possible.

We will endeavour to investigate legitimate payment disputes.

Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks relating to valid transactions may result in suspension of the relevant account or services while the matter is investigated.

Nothing in this section prevents a customer from exercising any lawful right to dispute an unauthorised or invalid transaction with their bank or payment provider.

19. Cancellation Due to Unavailable Stock

Occasionally, a product displayed as available may become unavailable before an order can be fulfilled, particularly where stock information is supplied by participating suppliers.

Where we cannot reasonably fulfil an order, Bakkie Guys may:

  • Offer an alternative product;

  • Offer a backorder where appropriate; or

  • Cancel and refund the affected product.

Customers will not be required to accept a substitute product they did not order.
